It is with extremely heavy hearts that the family announces her passing at Kingston General Hospital on Friday, March 13, 2020. She was surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer, at the age of 58. She is predeceased by the love of her life David in 2018 and is the loving mother of Cheryl, Andrew, Meaghan, and Matthew, and grandmother to Rebecca. She is predeceased by her parents Edward (2008) and Morressa (2016) Colbert and is survived by her siblings Peter J. Colbert, Judith Barkel (Mark), Jennifer Larose (Marc), and David Colbert (Karin). She leaves behind her loving nieces and nephews: Jessica and Christopher Barkel, Eric and Ryan Larose, Lindsay and Sarah Colbert, Kevin Mavor, and Christopher Mavor. Susanne worked for the City of Timmins for 30 years. Susanne was a founding and lifelong member of the Timmins Concert Singers and was a devoted lifelong member of the choir at St. Matthew’s Cathedral and was heavily involved within the church. Her faith is what kept her fighting for so long. The family would like to thank the support and care provided by the Cancer Center of South Eastern Ontario and Kingston General Hospital while Susanne was undergoing treatment and during her final days. We would also like to thank Dr. Ethier and Jan Giroux for all of their care during Susanne’s cancer journey.
Please note that the family has chosen to have a private funeral service for Susanne due to COVID-19.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday March 18 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Lessard-Stephens Funeral Home.
Remembrance donations made to St. Matthew’s Cathedral (cheques only) would be greatly appreciated.
